Why I became Menopause Doula
The worst part about menopausing was the unknown. The anxiety that came with each new weird and wonderful health challenge was exhausting.

Perimenopause was my tipping point
In 2017, I reached a crossroads. As a biologist and lecturer, I’m trained to seek logic and data, yet for nearly 6 years I had found myself in the midst of a transition I couldn’t name and didn't understand. It seemed illogical that I knew so little about my own biology.
Looking back, it wasn't a sudden "cliff-edge" moment, but a subtle, years-long shift marked by indicators like insomnia, tinnitus, and brain fog.
The Gap in Our Knowledge
Despite my background in biology and holistic therapy, I realized there was a massive educational void. My GCSE textbooks offered only two pages on hormones, and my professional training had never addressed how these transitions impact clients.
The anxiety of the unknown was often more taxing than the biological changes themselves. I eventually used a science-driven approach — mapping triggers and observing cycle patterns — to find a relationship with the process rather than trying to "beat" it.
This realization birthed a simple wish: I wanted someone to talk to.
But who?
I thought long and hard about the type of questions I wanted to ask and what I expected from that person. It wasn't a fitness pro, it wasn't a coach and it wasn't a doctor.
What I wanted was someone like a Doula, but for Menopause. I couldn't find one, so I decided to become one.
This journey led to the founding of The Menopause School.
My Why
Menopause is an incredible, curious journey from cyclic life to postmenopause. It is a biological evolution that requires adaptability and interpretation, not just "management."
Driven by a passion to change the face of menstrual and menopause health education, I believe that this is possible by creating as many information touch points with menstruators as possible.
My aim is to create a global collective of Menopause Doulas. Saving lives, changing the world, one menopause at a time.
