Why you don't need a menopause policy
What if supporting menopause at work was simpler than you thought?
Menopause has become an important part of workplace wellbeing conversations, and rightly so. But does your organisation really need a separate menopause policy to provide meaningful support?
The short answer is no.
Menopause is one part of a much wider menstrual health picture. Heavy bleeding, period pain, menstrual migraines, endometriosis, PMDD and changing cycle patterns can affect employees throughout their working lives.
Yet workplace support often focuses on menopause alone, overlooking the experiences and needs of other employees.
The good news is that many organisations already have policies and procedures where menstrual health support could be included, from employee wellbeing and flexible working to sickness absence and workplace facilities.
Rather than introducing another standalone policy, employers have an opportunity to build on what they already have, extend support to more employees and make better use of their existing resources.
But how well does your organisation currently support menstrual health?
Take our short Menstrual Health at Work Quiz to explore your organisation's current approach and identify opportunities to do more with what you already have.
